Fall into Adventure: Discover the Best of Autumn

Fall on Long Island where I live, feels like an invitation from the universe, urging us to embrace each golden-hued day. As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall, the stars shine brighter, adding a little magic to the season.

One of my favorite ways to celebrate fall is by exploring the outdoors. Whether hiking the many state park trails, and shorelines or sipping wine at one of the many delightful vineyards, like Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, the colors are breathtaking. Rich reds and vibrant oranges paint the landscape, making each view feel like a perfect postcard. The cool crisp air seems clear out the old energy, and welcome in the new.

Fall isn’t just about nature, though, it’s also a time for indulging in seasonal treats. Personally, I love visiting the local farm stands for their savory roasted corn on the cob, and home made pies all the while hunting the patches for the perfect pumpkin! These moments slow us down and help savor the simple joys of the season. Whether tasting roasted chestnuts or a pumpkin latte, every bite reminds us of the harvest’s abundance.

After a day spent visiting farm stands or strolling the trails, returning home with the season’s bounty is such a joy. In sharing these moments with family, it’s all about the little things, the memories, that endure a lifetime… like sipping hot cider, or laughing in the car ride home about how many pumpkins we could balance in someone’s arms for all you can pick… makes it even more memorable.

How do you celebrate the changing season with your loved ones? I’d love to hear your stories and traditions!

My passion for flowers began as a little girl when my grandmother inspired me to plant my first flower garden. I remember her growing breathtaking Zinnias in huge old tomato cans sitting on her porch. She didn't have money for decorative planters, so she just used her imagination. I would love to have those old vintage cans with Zinnias in glorious colors spilling from them. Isn't what's old new again? That passion for flowers and designing with them followed me my entire life, and eventually was the inspiration behind starting my own business in Home Decor and Floral Design years ago when Meadowsweet was born.

That was then, and this is Now...

It's a Wonderful Life as it continues today at Home with Family and Friends, getting lost in my Garden, or spending days with the most precious flowers of my life... the ones that call me Grammy...
